If you need a spot to stay Oak Tree Inn Yampa is a brilliant choice, and Coffin Lake is a glorious spot to visit for more than one day, Trapline Campground is a glorious spot to camp nearby. Coffin Lake is pretty dried out mostly; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that snows the most while June is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. On a fine day at Coffin Lake you can take a hike along the Oyster Lake Trail,

| | and get covered with water paddling on Sweetwater Creek. Bucks Campground is a tremendous local campground, and Trappers Lake is a fine lake close by. So much fun stuff in close proximity to Coffin Lake, completely astonishing. McGinnis Meadows Reservoir Dam is a wonderful place right next door to Coffin Lake, and there is a brilliant hiking trail nearby called the South Derby Trail. here at Coffin Lake it's a pleasant idea to stop at Amphitheatre. For the duration of the warm months, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Coffin Lake. Throughout the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. Highs throughout the
winter are regularly in the 20's with temperatures at Coffin Lake dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. Fraser Creek flows through this vicinity, and a striking lake like Little Trappers Lake is a magnificent place
to stop at. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is good here at Coffin Lake, you can go for a hike along the Ute Trail.

 | 12 miles away I fished last year and am coming back next week to fish again. It is very nice to fish from a boat or bank, but I prefer boat....Wife and I where fishing Stagecoach, then we heard of Yamcolo, it was about 20 mins out of Yampa. We came around the corner of the earthen dam side, looked down the fish where jumpin all over the place grabbed the poles and it was off to the rodoe,15 fish as fast as we could 45min past sorry did not have camera going back this year in couple of weeks can't wait New Castle Colo, Apple Tree Park... |

 | 16 miles away 3 PHOTOS Jet lake is also located in the Flat Tops wilderness area so no vehicles allowed but is only about a 15 to 20 minute hike to the lake (an easy pretty flat hike) then about another 15 minute hike into shadow lake , about 15 mor into blair lake and about 15 more into crater lake. Elk lakes are located about 5 minutes from the wilderness area only 1/2 mile to the parking for jet lakes.... some colorado wild flowers... |

Definatly a 4 wheel drive Jeep Trail but only a few miles from Elk lakes, Jet lake, Shadow Lake, Blair lakes , Crater Lake, Deep lake and bison lake. Lots of Cut throat trout, rainbows and browns. Most deffinatly more than a one day trip. Always plan for all kinds of weather, and definitely tent camping only.... |
