Don't leave Lake of the Clouds without first going for a hike along the Cotton Trail; you can stay the night at Lake Creek Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Banjo Lake is nearby, and you can make out Mount Marcy from Lake of the Clouds. But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. North Crestone Campground is a splendid campground nearby, and you can go for       a hike on the Hermit Lake Trail. Lake of the Clouds is pretty dried up commonly; during the month of August you get the most rain around here; the driest month is January. Lake of the Clouds is one of the lakes here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Glide down the rapids of Arkansas River in a kayak, and going for a hike on the Lake of the Clouds Trail is always a perfect adventure. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. High                  temperatures at Lake of the Clouds during the summer are in the 80's while overnight lows are commonly in the 40's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Lake of the Clouds.
