Beautiful Cliff Lake has much to offer visitors. At Cliff Lake during the warm months highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Cliff Lake are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Vail Mountain Lodge and Spa; you can have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Piney Lake Trail. Whohoo, so much cool stuff in one place!

| | The Park Range is great! Everybody nearby loves skiing at Beaver Creek; do take a hike on the Eaglesmere Trail. While you're here at Cliff Lake you will meet lots of folks from nearby Silverthorne. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the Park Range has to offer. If you need a site to stay Vails Mountain Haus is a great choice, and the sight of wonderful Eagles Nest is wonderful. Blue River is a fine whitewater spot near Cliff Lake, | |

and a perfect site to camp here at Cliff Lake is Willows Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Big Green Campground is always a good experience, and if you've had enough of Cliff Lake, Mirror Lake is nearby. Cliff
Lake is pretty dried out usually; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Vail is a delightful local ski area, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting
drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Gore Creek. This lake is located in the wonderful Park Range. This is no site for people who don’t like to have a good time. Hiking along the Surprise Trail is glorious fun, and Cliff Lake is not the only place nearby, Upper Cataract Lake is a nearby lake.

Upper Piney Lake
 | We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch.... |
Gore Range Trail
 | Well, exhilarating or not, you may want to consider parking your tent and self away from trees. The forests in the Gore and elsewhere in Colorado are dying, particularly and immediately the pines. The aspens are dealing plague also, but of a fungi and bacterial nature. Do NOT camp near trees.......SCARED IN MY LIFE! We set up our tents just before dark as the rain was really starting to come down. The forecast predicted a few small isolated showers along the Continental Davide, earlier in the day. Isolated my ass- it rained hard for about 6 or 7 hours!!! It was around 10pm when I was awaken by a VERY unfamiliar loud crackling, popping, and snapping sound. I've never in my life heard anything that closely resembled the sounds I was hearing. The first one that woke me & lasted about 30 seconds, the next came about 5 minutes later and lasted a few seconds longer. This time after the same noises as before ended, there was a horrific crashing sound that shook the area where my tent was pitched. That's when I realized the tree's were falling due to the rain softening the soil around the Tree roots. I thought for sure one of the up-rooted tree's were going to crush me & my tent like a Grape. God must have lent a helping hand because in the morning we counted 17 tree's that fell. One of the 40 foot tree's landed w/ in 20ft of my tent. That was the one that nearly made me soil my pa... |
