Summertime highs at Clayton Lake commonly tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are usually in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Clayton Lake. A perfect close by hotel is Zephyr Mountain Lodge, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Boulder Creek. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Iron Horse Resort is a great       choice; close by you come across the James Peak Lake Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. Going for a hike on the King Lake Trail is always a magnificent adventure; a tremendous site to camp here at Clayton Lake is Midland Campground. What would winter be without some skiing at Berthoud Pass. At Clayton Lake you don’t see much rainfall; the wettest month of the year is regularly August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the                  year is February. The summit of Mount Epworth can be distinguished from Clayton Lake; why not camp at Spruce Lodge Campground if you're here at Clayton Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The South Boulder Creek Trail is a wonderful hiking trail in the vicinity of Clayton Lake, and a magnificent spot close by is Riflesight Notch. Lakes are tremendous; Crater Lakes is a lake that's close to Clayton Lake; if you come at the right time of year, Clear Creek - West Fork offers some pleasant whitewater. If only every spot had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great planet it would be.
