Crater Lakes is a lake nearby, and you can go for a hike on the James Peak Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Iron Horse Resort, and a day on the slopes of Winter Park is just what you need. Midland Campground is a perfect campground nearby, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Berthoud Pass is rather near. Throughout the warmest time of the year highs here at Clayton Lake get       into the 70's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while Clayton Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff at Clayton Lake. Boulder Creek is a pleasant whitewater spot near Clayton Lake, and going for a hike on the South Boulder Creek Trail is always a brilliant adventure. Clayton Lake is pretty                  arid usually; the wettest month of the year is mostly August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is February. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Iceberg Lakes, and you might also want to pay a visit to Riflesight Notch if you're here at Clayton Lake.
