Around Chinns Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is August, and February on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year at Chinns Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's; the night is a little colder       of course, typically in the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Chinns Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Berthoud Pass is one of those things you just ought to do, and in case you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Clear Creek. Man, is there a load of enjoyable things to do near Chinns Lake. Spruce Lodge Campground is a glorious campground                  nearby, and if you need a spot to stay Georgetown Mountain Inn is a magnificent choice. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid nearby hotel is Iron Horse Resort, and why not take a refreshing hike along the James Peak Lake Trail. Lakes? Sure, Fall River Reservoir is in close proximity; Clear Creek - West Fork is a wonderful whitewater spot close by. If only every place had this much outdoors fun things, what a great planet it would be. Hiking along the Sevenmile Ski Trail is wonderful fun, and Mountain Meadow Camp Grounds is a glorious local campground. North Empire Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to, and do take a hike on the South Boulder Creek Trail.
