time here at Chickaree Lake. Inn At Grand Lake, The is a fine location to get some rest, and Blue Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop by. This lake is so wonderful. A good close by hotel is Gateway Inn Restaurant Cnf Ctr,
and SolVista is a tremendous local ski area. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Willow Creek, and do stop at Columbine Lake, it's a striking lake. Chickaree Lake gets very little rainfall; of all the months in a year May
is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. The slopes of Berthoud Pass are so inviting noone can resist.

Long Draw Reservoir
10 miles away A very nice place to go camping, hiking and fishing. The reservoir has an astonishing breathtaking view, nothing like I have ever seen before, yes that beautiful! We went the weekend of July 10th, 2009 the weather during the day is very nice and sunny avg. temp about 75 degrees, the nights however are very cold, dipping into the low 40's and 30's, so be prepared for that, we came with too little of blankets and learned that to be a big mistake. Long draw is located about 15 mi. inland from Hwy 14 just past Chambers, driving into the reservoir looks deceitful because it seems as though you are traveling into the thick of the forest with nothing but trees around, but be patient 15 mi. in you will discover the camp ground, enjoy!...
Watanga Lake
12 miles away We hiked up to Wantaga Lake from the Roaring Fork Trailhead on July 27, 2006. This is a steep trail with lots of switchbacks and stream crossings. It took us 3 hours to get to the lake and 2 to get back down. Bear and elk scat were on the trail and loads of different species of mushrooms and flowers. I recommend you take treking poles, mosquitoe repellent, food and lots of water. The lake is beautiful and is loaded with cutthroat trout! Enjoy! ...
Ypsilon Lake
14 miles away It is a really good 4.9 mile hike, if you want to get a full day of fishing either wake up early and be at the trail head by five in the morning, or you can get a back country permit and stay over night. The fishing here is amazing. The average angler can catch his limit in a couple of hours. You will mostly see colorado cutthroat at an average of 12-14 inches.A wonderful place to fish, I plan on going a couple of times this summer.(Wont be good for fishing til about jun 15 on. Enjoy!...
SolVista
15 miles away 2 PHOTOS ...ake this a skiing experience everyone can enjoy. While the East Mountain is a beginner and intermediate skier's paradise, the West Mountain offers terrain to whet the appetite of more advanced skiers. SolVista Basin is the perfect place for kids and parents alike, as all runs lead to a single location at the base. Your skiing adventure begins at the newly completed Base Camp Lodge. Here you can purchase lift tickets, enroll in ski school, and rent or buy the latest equipment. It also offers the perfect vantage point to watch the kids cruise down the slopes as you relax on the viewing deck. At the end of the day, the fire pit at the base of the mountain is a popular gathering place for families to share stories and enjoy a warm cup of cocoa. There's also a dining hall, Seven Trails Grille and Higher Grounds Coffee Shop to keep you fueled for your adventures. We have totally redesigned the Base Camp Lodge! We have added 5000 sq ft to the building, expanded the deck seating by 2500 sq ft and paved the parking lot. The Children's Center, Retail Shop, Dining Hall and Rental Departme...
