This lake is so wonderful. A charming lake like Teasup Lake near Cherry Lake is a wonderful place to explore, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Hermit Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Middle Fork Cotton Creek is a magnificent local stream. Now, you may assume that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Camping is available at Lake Creek Campground, and if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Arkansas River. Henderson Gulch is in the neighborhood of Cherry Lake and is certainly a glorious place to stop by, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Crossover Trail. so much entertaining stuff in one place! The Sangre De Cristo Mountains is great! A tour to Kolkman Basin revives the spirit, and Mount Owen is easy to spot from Cherry Lake. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves.
Camping at North Crestone Campground is always a great experience, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Cotton Trail. Cherry Lake is a location that is pretty arid ordinarily; August is when you get the most rain here
while January is generally the driest month. Through the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 80's at Cherry Lake, and the overnight is rather cooler of course, typically in the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Cherry Lake dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights.

 | Trail is awful, disappearing and reappearing every now and again. Thorn bushes and trash cover what little trail is easy to navigate. Trail disappears completely before you actually reach the lake. Also it appears that an axe murderer has taken up residence in the upperwoods. Be careful and travel in large groups if you plan to try and make it to the lake. It is easy to get lost so mark your trail well.... |
