All year is a nice time in the San Juan Mountains if you fancy the outdoors. Middle Trout Creek is a splendid place to take a look at. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Wolf Creek is in the neighborhood of Cherokee Lake; the Fern Creek Stock Driveway is a good hiking trail nearby. It is very dry here at Cherokee Lake typically; July is the month that gets the most rain, and June on the other hand is the       driest. This lake is so wonderful. Fairfield Pagosa Resort is a great location to get some rest; there is a tremendous hiking trail close by called the Long Ridge Stock Driveway. So many entertaining things to do here in the San Juan Mountains, too good to be true. Trout Lake Dam has good water scenery and it's right next door to Cherokee Lake. There's so much to do here at Cherokee Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cimarrona Campground is                  a great place for that. All the outdoors entertaining stuff close to Cherokee Lake will keep you coming back time and again. A lake close by is Trout Lake, and nearby you discover the Middle Creek Stock Driveway which is a nice hiking trail. Cherokee Lake is located in the San Juan Mountains. In case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Grande. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Cherokee Lake has to offer, you can camp at Middle Fork Hunter Campground. During the summertime at Cherokee Lake temperatures are frequently in the 70's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's.
