    Chapman Reservoir is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Around Chapman Reservoir you don’t get a lot of rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and February is the month with the least moisture. And if you're still looking for more outdoors fun stuff just keep reading. Here at Chapman Reservoir there are plenty of folks from Fort Collins-Loveland, and there's wonderful hiking along the Round Mountain Trail. This lake is so wonderful.  
   Get your heart pumping on the nice whitewater of Saint Vrain Creek - North.
This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Big Thompson River for all you adrenaline people, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Loveland. Chapman Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out, and a lake nearby is Ide and Starbird Reservoir Number 2. At Chapman Reservoir all through the days of summer highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows are usually in the
 
               50's. During the winter the highs are frequently in the 40's with temperatures at Chapman Reservoir dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
Enjoy a round of golf at Cattail Creek Golf Course not far from Chapman Reservoir, and after a long day outdoors Budget Host Exit 254 Inn Loveland is a good site to spend a night or two. Twin Mounds can be spotted from Chapman Reservoir, and Rising Star is a magnificent local campground. Loveland RV Village Campground is a glorious campground nearby, unsurprisingly you could also visit DeFrance Reservoir since you're here; it's not far at all.

Watson is beautiful. You do need a wilderness habitat stamp to be there, but that is included with your fishing license. It is closed to boating, except float tubes. The river (poudre) runs along the east side of the lake so even for casual recreation or non fishing activities it is a picteresque spot. There are two handicapped/wheelchair accessible fishing docks, and the trail by the river is also wheelchair friendly....
