For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows throughout the winter for Chama Lake tend to be in the 0's. That right there is lots of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the San Juan and Jemez Mountains has it all. If you came for an overnight stay El Vado Lake Camping Resort is a glorious       spot to camp. The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Chama Lake is a rather wet place generally with much precipitation; March is the wettest month with most snow, and June meanwhile is the driest month. Just can't get enough of Chama Lake. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Green Lake, and nearby you stumble on the Elk Creek Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Lakes are pleasant; Trail Lake                  is a lake that's close to Chama Lake, and there are great spots to explore along the Fish Creek Trail. Conejos Campground is a perfect campground nearby, and get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of Rio Chama. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the South Fork Trail is always a tremendous adventure; if you need a site to stay Branding Iron Motel is a great choice. Be careful coming to the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, you might not ever wanna return back home again.
