Beautiful Chalk Lake has much to offer visitors. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Colt Spring Campground, and Anges Vail Falls is a gorgeous place to explore while you're at Chalk Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Monarch has nice slopes and a friendly staff, and going for a hike on the Fooses Creek Trail is always a nice adventure. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawatch Range.

| | Range, just phenomenal. If you need a place to stay Best Western Vista Inn is a glorious choice, and a delightful location for whitewater paddling is Arkansas River. Silvercliff Ranch is a great campground nearby, and nearby you discover the Browns Creek Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. All through the summertime months at Chalk Lake temperatures are generally in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the | |

30's while the cold winter nights at Chalk Lake are in the 0's.
Lakes? Sure, Shavano Lake is in the neighborhood, and a great spot nearby is Cascade Canyon. Chalk Lake is pretty dry generally; the month of August is the wettest
with most of the rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Sawatch Range. After a long day outdoors Buena Vista Super 8 Motel is a good spot to spend a night or two,
and Ski Cooper is a very popular ski area nearby.
This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Horn Fork Trail.
