Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Castle Rock Reservoir; Monitor Mesa Trail is a wonderful local trail, and do pop by Big Monitor Reservoir Number 1, it's a gorgeous lake. This lake is so wonderful. Do set aside some time for Cottonwood Basin if you're here at Castle Rock Reservoir, and great hiking is available along the Cottonwood Trail.       This lake is so wonderful. At Bullfrog Dam in close proximity to Castle Rock Reservoir there are some out of the ordinary things to see; why not camp at T Bone Spring Campground since you're here at Castle Rock Reservoir. During the summertime highs here at Castle Rock Reservoir reach the 90's with nighttime lows in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Castle Rock Reservoir. Castle Rock                  Reservoir is pretty waterless typically; August is when you get the most rain here while June is commonly the driest month. On a delightful day you obtain a view of 25 Mesa from Castle Rock Reservoir; there are some pleasant whitewater spots on Escalante Creek. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Lots of people from Montrose come to Castle Rock Reservoir, and there's whitewater on San Miguel River for all you adrenaline junkies. A perfect site to camp here at Castle Rock Reservoir is Smokehouse Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Sundance. What a place this is for outdoors folks. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Moore Mesa Trail, and Middle Monitor Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could take a look at.
