     Castle Rock Lake is a nice lake to visit. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. The peak of Hermit Peak can be observed from Castle Rock Lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Cebolla Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Castle Rock Lake; Long Ridge Stock Driveway is a fine local trail. Summertime at Castle Rock Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's; throughout summer nights temperatures  
   are in the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Castle Rock Lake fall into the-10's.
You can run the rapids of Henson Creek right next door to Castle Rock Lake, and wonderful hiking is available along the Fern Creek Stock Driveway. Castle Rock Lake is a location that is quite dry frequently; August is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month
 
               with the least moisture. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you came for an overnight stay Castle Lakes Campground Resort is a pleasant spot to camp, and if you've had enough of Castle Rock Lake, Castle Number 4 Reservoir is nearby.
Nearby Trouble Hill is a magnificent spot to go if you're at Castle Rock Lake; Highlander RV Campground is a great local campground. And if that's not sufficient there's a heap more amusing stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Don't forget to take a brilliant little visit to Kitty Creek, and fine skiing awaits you at Silverton. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart pumping on the great whitewater of Rio Grande, of course you could also take a look at Pearl Lakes since you're here; it's not far at all.
