Castle Lakes is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Castle Lakes. Don't leave Castle Lakes without first going for a hike along the Big Blue Trail; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Henson Creek. Man, is there heaps of entertaining things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. You're most likely into lakes, Heart Lake is one of those nearby,

| | and hiking is a popular thing to do around Castle Lakes; Ridge Stock Driveway is a great local trail. If you came for an overnight stay Lake City Campground is a great place to camp, and great hiking is available along the Ridge Stock Driveway. Why not camp at Mill Creek Campground since you're here at Castle Lakes, and some of the water close by flows, like East Fork Williams Creek. This lake is so wonderful. and Jemez Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are good; Lake San Cristobal is a lake that's near Castle Lakes, and what would winter be without some skiing at Silverton. Through the days of summer highs here at Castle
Lakes reach the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are usually in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Castle Lakes are in the 10's. Castle Lakes gets very little rain;
through the month of August you get the most rain around here while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So much cool stuff to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, too magnificent to be true. Cascade
Gulch is a delightful spot to explore near Castle Lakes, and there's whitewater on Lake Fork Gunnison River for all you adrenaline kick people.
