     This lake is so wonderful. A tour to Crystal Valley is always fun, and hiking along the Whitehead Trail is tremendous fun. And that's not all there is to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Lodge at Tamarron is a glorious place to get some rest, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Animas River. Stay the night at Blue Spruce Trailer Park, and people from Durango love to come here.
This lake is so wonderful. Upper Park is right here at Castilleja
 
   Lake, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Deer Park Trail. Get soaked paddling on Vallecito Creek, and if you need a site to stay Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel is a good choice. Looking for something in the neighborhood of Castilleja Lake? Lillie Lake is in close proximity, and tremendous skiing awaits you at Kendall Mountain.

               Mountain from Castilleja Lake. Castilleja Lake is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. So many cool things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, just tremendous. You're probably addicted to lakes, Lake Marie is one of those close by; Castilleja Lake is a brilliant spot to visit for more than one day, Vallecito Campground is a brilliant spot to camp nearby.
You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun things the area near Castilleja Lake has to offer. While you're here at Castilleja Lake you can take a hike along the Brooklyn Trail, and you can never get enough of the tremendous skiing at Silverton. At Castilleja Lake you don’t see much rain; August is the wettest month with most rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Castilleja Lake through the long summer days are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and overnight lows during the wintertime for Castilleja Lake tend to be in the 0's.
