Chimney Hollow is close to Carter Lake Reservoir and is positively a pleasant place to have a look at; do stop by Flatiron Dam since you're here. The sight of lovely Flatiron Mountain near Carter Lake Reservoir is delightful, and there's good hiking along the Round Mountain Trail. Having a great time at Carter Lake Reservoir is painless. Not far from Carter Lake Reservoir, you'll       hit upon Poison Lake which is a scenic lake; why not camp at Carter Valley Campgrounds while you're here at Carter Lake Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Bighorn Moutain Lodge is a tremendous choice, and Carter Lake Reservoir is a spot with many visitors from Fort Collins-Loveland. You clearly have to go for the Front Range. Lakes are nice; Flatiron Reservoir is a lake that's next to Carter Lake Reservoir, and get your heart pumping                  on the great whitewater of Big Thompson River. A great place for whitewater paddling near Carter Lake Reservoir is Saint Vrain Creek - North, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Crosier Mountain Trail. The Front Range scenery is always beautiful. Carter Lake Reservoir gets very little precipitation; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is January. Cottonwood Creek is a nice local stream, and Riverview RV Park and Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. The Jug Trail offers hiking at its best, and dry warm beds await you at La Quinta Inn and Suites Loveland. All through the warm days of summer here at Carter Lake Reservoir, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Carter Lake Reservoir.
