    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Carter Lake. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors exciting things the Sawatch Range has to offer. Not far from Carter Lake, you'll come across Savage Lakes which is a pretty lake, and you can have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Last Chance Trail. You think that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Hit the slopes at Beaver Creek around here; Eagle River has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby.
 
   Carter Creek flows through this region, and the top of Savage Peak is easily observed from Carter Lake. There's so much to do here at Carter Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Gold Park Campground is a magnificent site for that, and after a long day outdoors Hyatt Mountain Lodge is a great site to spend a night or two. All through the summertime at Carter Lake highs are usually in the 80's, and the overnight is a bit colder of course, commonly in the  
               40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Carter Lake.
Having a magnificent time in the Sawatch Range is simple. In case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Fryingpan River; folks from Edwards love to come here. It is very waterless here at Carter Lake usually; July is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is February. You absolutely should have a thing about Carter Lake. Going for a hike along the Lake Charles Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and a magnificent close by hotel is The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch.
This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Josephine Lake, and Ski Cooper is a very popular ski area in close proximity. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Carter Lake has to offer, you can camp at Elk Wallow Campground, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Half Moon Trail. Carter Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sawatch Range.

Beautiful drive up to Lede Reservoir.  We started in Eagle and took Sylvan Lake road all the way past the lake and then took a right at the first intersection.  After climbing up and around the peak in front of us we were upon some huge rolling meadows that were among the forrests.  A slight drop down into the valley on the west side of the mountains and a left turn lead us to the reservoir.  It is a great spot with some fishing paths around the water and a number of campsites as well.  We continued west to Gypsum Creek Road and a short drive back to the town of Gypsum....

...ck Lewis looked at an unassuming mountainside with vision and conviction. He took one look at the current site of Copper and told his friends, I don’t care how everyone else does it, we're not everyone else, and he meant it. He negotiated a deal to purchase 280 acres at the base and worked with the Forest Service to establish parameters and guidelines for the ski area. Chuck was both a renegade and a visionary. During the summer of '71, initial construction began on the ski trails. Today, Chuck’s dream is alive and well.

As stated in a 1969 US Forest Service report, if there were a mountain that had terrain for skiing it would be Copper Mountain. It is the most nearly perfect ski mountain in the U. S. Over the years, new lifts were added and Copper grew to its current size of 2,465 acres. What was once a sleepy little day ski area is now one of Colorado's premier year-round destination resorts. In 1997, the resort was purchased by Intrawest - a worldwide leader in resort operations and real estate development.
