You can run the rapids of Fryingpan River in close proximity to Carter Lake, and a nice panorama of scenic Savage Peak is available. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawatch Range. Sawatch Range. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Carter Lake has to offer, you can camp at Elk Wallow Campground, and hiking along the Last Chance Trail is brilliant fun.
Carter Creek is a picturesque stream that
is worth visiting. Carter Lake gets very little rainfall; the month with most of the rain is July while February is regularly the driest month.
