You could also go to Strawberry Lake since you're here at Carneros Lake; it's nearby, and camping at Blue Lakes Campground is always a nice experience. If you came to camp Potato Patch Campground is a wonderful place to do that, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Peaks Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Carneros Lake       is ordinarily a quite dry site; during August this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. Eldora has perfect slopes and a friendly staff, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Indian Trail. Be careful coming to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, you might not ever wanna go back home again. The summit of Culebra Peak can be observed from Carneros Lake, and probably you're looking for close by lakes?                  Sure, Lost Lake is just a very short distance away. That right there is plenty of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Sangre De Cristo Mountains has it all. Ski Rio is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood. Carneros Lake lays in the shadow of the Culebra Range, and going for a hike along the Bernal Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Throughout the summertime months at Carneros Lake highs are frequently in the 80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 40's.
