Stay the night at Emerson Campground, and if you get bored of Carlyle Reservoir you could also take a look at nearby Gordon Reservoir. Be careful coming to Carlyle Reservoir, you might not ever want to return back home again. There's whitewater on Dolores River for all you thrill seekers, and dry warm beds await you at Dunton Hot Springs. offers hiking at its best, and there's great hiking along the Stoner Stock Trail. Carlyle Reservoir is a magnificent location to visit for more than one day, The Forks Campground is a magnificent location to camp nearby; Johnson Reservoir
is a nearby lake that you could visit. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Carlyle Reservoir; McPhee Stock Trail is a wonderful local trail. At Carlyle Reservoir you don’t see much rainfall; of all the months in a year October is the one with the most rain, and June is when it's the driest.

Puett Reservoir
 | 12 miles away A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line.... |
Summit Reservoir
 | 12 miles away Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |

La Mesa RV Park
 | 17 miles away We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again.... |
