You'll need more than a day to discover everything California Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Emerson Campground. Not much rainfall falls here at California Reservoir; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. A spree to Mesa Verde National Park is worthwhile. California Reservoir is a perfect site to visit for more than one day, The Forks Campground is a perfect site to camp nearby; a splendid close by hotel is Dunton Hot Springs.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at California Reservoir. Going for a hike on the McPhee Stock Trail is always a good adventure; Dolores River is a brilliant whitewater spot close by. For the
duration of the warm days of summer at California Reservoir temperatures are usually in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to California Reservoir.

Puett Reservoir
 | 11 miles away A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |

La Mesa RV Park
 | 16 miles away We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again.... |
