     Butler Reservoir is always a pleasure to visit. Dry warm beds await you at Cortez-Days Inn; in all probability you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Stump Reservoir is just a very short distance away. What a place this is for outdoors people. Mesa Verde National Park is a very fine location to visit near Butler Reservoir, and you can go for a hike on the McPhee Stock Trail. Going for a hike on the Stoner Stock Trail is always a fine adventure, and you're  
   most likely keen on lakes, Van Pelt Reservoir is one of those close by.
This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Butler Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Dolores River RV Park is a brilliant site for that; Dunton Hot Springs is a magnificent place to get some rest. Don't leave Butler Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Frink Trail, and if you came to camp Cozy Comfort RV Park and
 
               Mountain Retreat is a wonderful place to do that.
Summertime at Butler Reservoir arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Butler Reservoir. Carver Canyon is a good location to discover; if you come at the right time of year, Dolores River offers some good whitewater. Around Butler Reservoir you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is June.

Puett Reservoir
A.M. Puett Reservoir was originally constructed in 1905, and then reconstructed in 1960. It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and open for public fishing from the bank and from trolling motor powered boats. No swimming is allowed. The lake is on private land and access is limited to 3 feet above the high water line....

Summit Reservoir
Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed....

We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again....
