Going for a hike on the Black Mountain Trail is always a pleasant adventure; a delightful close by hotel is Salida-Days Inn. Summertime highs at Bushnell Lakes usually tend to be in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Bushnell Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much       to do here at Bushnell Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Hayden Creek Campground is a delightful location for that, and there are other spots here than Bushnell Lakes, for example West Creek Lake. Now, you may assume that's a load but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The Hunts Lake Trail is a wonderful hiking trail in the neighborhood of Bushnell Lakes, and Arkansas River has a glorious whitewater                  paddling spot close by. Near Bushnell Lakes you locate the Steel Canyon Trail which is a perfect hiking trail; Circle R Motel is a perfect spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. This spot is excellent, just look at all the enjoyable things to do in the neighborhood of Bushnell Lakes. Bushnell Lakes is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Sugarbush Grocery and Camp is a nice local campground; in case you don’t mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Arkansas River. And if that's not enough there's loads more exciting things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. From Bushnell Lakes you get a nice vista of Bushnell Peak, and lakes are such peaceful sites, why not stop at Hunts Lake. Around Bushnell Lakes you don’t get a lot of rain; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while January is ordinarily the driest month.
