Buck Lake is usually a relatively arid place; the month of March is the wettest with most of the snow, and June is when it's the driest. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this location. Going for a hike on the South Derby Trail is always a good adventure, and a tremendous spot to camp here at Buck Lake is Sweetwater Lake Campground. There are good locations to explore along the High Trail,       and after a long day outdoors Oak Tree Inn Yampa is a wonderful location to spend a night or two. Why not camp at Anderson Camps LTD since you're here at Buck Lake, and there are some pleasant whitewater spots on Sweetwater Creek. This lake is so wonderful. W Mountain is clearly visible from Buck Lake, and Buck Lake is not the only site nearby, Crescent Lake is a nearby lake. If you need a site to stay Hotel Colorado is a great choice. There's whitewater                  on Grizzly Creek for all you adrenaline kick people; don't leave Buck Lake without first going for a hike along the Ute Trail. At Buck Lake during the summertime months highs are in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's.
