    It's always fun to stop by Bowl of Tears. At Bowl of Tears you don’t see much precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Homestake Creek, of course you could also visit Tuhare Lakes while you're here; it's not far at all. What a spot this is for outdoors people. Good hiking is available along the Fall Creek Trail.
This lake is so wonderful.
 
   Go for a hike on the Half Moon Trail, and lots of folks from Edwards come here. Bowl of Tears is a beautiful lake in the Sawatch Range. Man, is there plenty of entertaining things to do in the Sawatch Range. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Bowl of Tears; Main Range Trail is a splendid local trail, and if you've had enough of Bowl of Tears, Lake Constantine is nearby.
So much exciting stuff to do here in the Sawatch Range, too great to be true. Gotta
 
               ski! Beaver Creek is a great site to do that; if you need a place to stay Christie Lodge is a glorious choice. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous location near Bowl of Tears is Fall Creek Pass; you can stay the night at Gold Park Campground. Dry warm beds await you at The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch; Half Moon Campground is a good campground nearby.
Throughout the warm months at Bowl of Tears temperatures are regularly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows at Bowl of Tears all through the winter ordinarily sink into the 0's. At Bowl of Tears you can see Mount of the Holy Cross, and don't forget to take a splendid little visit to East Cross Creek. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the neighborhood of Bowl of Tears. What would winter be without some skiing at Vail; if you come at the right time of year, Eagle River offers some great whitewater.

We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....
