Hit the slopes at Powderhorn close at hand, and at Ward Creek Dam near Boulder Lake Reservoir there are some exciting       things to see. There are nice spots to explore along the Cottonwood Lakes Foot Trail; dry warm beds await you at Howard Johnson Express - Cedaredge. Around Boulder Lake Reservoir you don’t get a lot of precipitation; October is the month that gets the most rain while January is regularly the driest month. Island Lake Campground is a wonderful local campground, and there is a fine hiking trail close by called the Blue Grouse Trail.
