White River is a good whitewater spot near Bobcat Reservoir, and Villard Flats Reservoir is a glorious lake nearby. Bobcat Reservoir is pretty dry frequently; October is when you get the most rain here, and February is the month with the least moisture. Deerlodge Park Campground is a wonderful local campground, and a lovely lake like Box Elder Reservoir Number 2 is a good spot to visit. The warmest time of the year at Bobcat Reservoir comes with high temperatures

Do go to Coal Ridge Dam since you're here at Bobcat Reservoir, and if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yampa River.
