Bluff Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Bluff Lake is a location that is rather arid regularly; May is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month of the year is January. A stunning lake like Lake Mary near Bluff Lake is a pleasant spot to have a look at, and South Platte River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. For the period of the long summer days at Bluff Lake highs are typically in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's; after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Bluff Lake descend into the 10's. Aurora-Kelley Road Reservoir is a perfect lake near Bluff Lake; Quality Inn Denver is a good place to get some rest.

Camping at Denver Meadows Mobile Park is always a fine experience, and golf can be played at Cherry Creek Country Club. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. A great location to camp here at Bluff Lake is Cherry Creek, and Toll Gate Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting.

Good fishing here if you are willing to experiment. Limited shoreline access because of the weed structures but those weeds hold good size bass. I have found it easy to catch 10-14 inch largemouth in the open spots with plastic worms and surface lures. I have only fished there four times as of this writing (07/13/2007) but have enjoyed each visit. My best fish so far was a 17'' largemouth caught on a Jitterbug. Take the kids!... |
