You'll need more than a day to look at everything Blue Lakes has to offer, you can camp at Aspen Acres Campground; hiking is a popular thing to do around Blue Lakes; Santana Trail is a perfect local trail. Blue Lakes is pretty dried up usually; most of the rain falls during August, and January on the other hand is the driest. High temperatures at Blue Lakes through the warm months are in the 80's. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant nearby hotel is Knights Inn Walsenburg, and you obtain a good panorama of North Peak from here. If you need a place to stay Days Inn Colorado is a magnificent choice; great hiking is available along the Camp Crockett Trail. for a while, Ophir Creek Campground is a fine site for that. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Yeah, come up here to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains for a perfect time. You'll discover a gorgeous lake called Eagle Scout Lake Reservoir near Blue Lakes, and the Greenhorn Trail offers hiking at its best.

Fun? I must have the wrong place. Getting to Marion Lake is fun as well as the hiking sites along the way (Marion Mine, and others) but I wouldn't say this is a tourist stop. OK place to grab a few fish, but stay well-hidden. It is a level area and a quick walk can be made to Greenhorn Mountain Road.... |
