This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. At Blue Lakes you can observe North Peak; after a long day outdoors Knights Inn Walensburg is a good place to spend a night or two. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Hiking along the Santana Trail is glorious fun, and Blue Lakes is right by the Camp Crockett Trail. And that's not everything you can do here in the Sangre De       Cristo Mountains. So much entertaining stuff in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, just incredible. Going for a hike along the Greenhorn Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region; if you've had enough of Blue Lakes, Eagle Scout Lake Reservoir is close by. There's so much to do here at Blue Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Ophir Creek Campground is a magnificent location for that, and Blue Lakes is not the only place close by, Lake                  Isabel is a close by lake. For the period of the summertime months at Blue Lakes highs are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 30's with temperatures at Blue Lakes dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. It is very dried up here at Blue Lakes usually; August is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful.
