So much fun stuff near Blue Lakes, absolutely inspiring. One of the principal features of the surroundings of Blue Lakes is Blanca Peak. All through the days of summer at Blue Lakes temperatures are usually in the 80's; the night is a bit colder of course, frequently in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Blue Lakes dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.       Blanca Basin is a wonderful place to check out; after a long day outdoors Alamosa-Days Inn is a splendid place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Great Sand Dunes Oasis, and Blue Lakes is right by the Huerfano Trail. There's so much to do here at Blue Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Blanca RV Park is a great site for that, and hiking along the Ute Trail is splendid fun. This lake is one of the great places                  here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Blue Lakes is ordinarily a rather dry spot; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is January. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
