This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Old Mancos Inn is a magnificent place to spend a night or two, and you can stay the night at Transfer Campground. Mesa Verde Motel is a good site to get some rest; it's a tremendous idea to have a look at Fish Creek. Barnard Reservoir is a great lake in the vicinity of Black Reservoir, and you can go for a hike on the Little Bear Trail. There's so much to do       here at Black Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Priest Gulch Campground and RV is a fine spot for that, and nearby you locate the Morrison Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. And that's not all you can do here at Black Reservoir. A short visit to Spruce Spring is always worthwhile, and going for a hike on the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway is always a great adventure. At Black Reservoir throughout the long summer days highs are in the 70's.                  Summer night lows descend down to the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while Black Reservoir overnight low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. The skiing at Hesperus Ski Center is great. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Dolores River, and don't miss out on a spree to Mesa Verde National Park if you're here.
