     Black Lake is a beautiful lake in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is great at Kendall Mountain, and camping is available at Thirtymile Campground. Paddling on Vallecito Creek is so much fun, and Bristol Head Reservoir Number 1 is a nice lake nearby.
The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Black Lake, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the
 
   30's with temperatures at Black Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. This location, the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, has so much outdoors entertaining things. Lakes are such serene spots, why not check out Ute Lake in the vicinity of Black Lake, and glide down the rapids of Rio Grande in a kayak. There's good hiking along the Deer Park Trail, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Silverton.
If you like the outdoors
 
               you'll like it here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There are splendid locations to explore along the Whitehead Trail, and a pleasant location to camp here at Black Lake is Lost Trail Campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Ouray is a glorious choice. But wait, there's more to do close to Black Lake. Don't leave Black Lake without first going for a hike along the Fern Creek Stock Driveway, and there's some flowing water close by, East Ute Creek is a stream you can go to during your stay.
It is very dried out here at Black Lake mostly; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
