If you are in this part of Colorado make sure to pay a visit to Black Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful San Juan Mountains. On a glorious day at Black Lake you can take a hike along the Deer Park Trail, and whitewater paddling is good on Rio Grande. Throughout the long summer days here at Black Lake, high temperatures regularly get into the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. | | the 30's; overnight lows during the winter for Black Lake tend to be in the 0's.
There's just no way someone can get bored here at Black Lake. Silverton has wonderful slopes and a friendly staff, and if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Vallecito Creek. Now, you may think that's a heap but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the San Juan Mountains. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Ouray. | |

This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Thirtymile Campground; going for a hike along the Whitehead Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
And if that's not enough there's a lot more cool stuff
to do in the San Juan Mountains. If the weather is great here at Black Lake, you can go for a hike along the Fern Creek Stock Driveway, and hey, East Ute Creek is a great local stream. Hit the slopes at Kendall Mountain nearby, and
Black Lake is a nice spot to camp, Lost Trail Campground is a nice spot. At Black Lake you don’t see much rainfall; August is the wettest month with most rain, and June on the other hand is the driest.
