What a nice lake Big Rainbow Lake is. This lake is one of the great places here in the Medicine Bow Mountains. Stay the night at Hooligan Roost Campground; Grassy Pass is close at hand, and is a fine location. It is very dry here at Big Rainbow Lake mostly; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily May, that's the one that rains the most while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

| | lake that you could stop at, and swamps don’t sound that wonderful but Rawah Bog close to Big Rainbow Lake is relatively wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Rawah Trail is always a perfect adventure. Just can't get enough of Big Rainbow Lake. The top of Sheep Mountain is easily seen from Big Rainbow Lake; get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Cache La Poudre River.

more enjoyable things to do here in the Medicine Bow Mountains. Camp Creek is a fine local stream, and Big Rainbow Lake is a delightful site to camp, Browns Park Campground is a delightful site. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff
in one place! The Medicine Bow Mountains is so good! There are brilliant locations to explore along the McIntyre Lake Trail; if you need a location to stay Gateway Inn Restaurant Cnf Ctr is a good choice. Whitewater paddling is not
for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Joe Wright Creek, and don't leave Big Rainbow Lake without first going for a hike along the North Fork Trail.
Throughout the warm months at Big Rainbow Lake temperatures are
usually in the 70's while night lows are usually in the 30's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 20's while Big Rainbow Lake nighttime low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 0's.
