This lake is so wonderful. Whohoo, so       much cool stuff in one place! The Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains is peerless! Get your heart pumping on the brilliant whitewater of Escalante Creek, and nearby you come across the Monitor Mesa Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Summertime highs at Big Monitor Reservoir Number 1 frequently tend to be in the 90's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. Highs through the winter are ordinarily in the 30's with temperatures                  at Big Monitor Reservoir Number 1 dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights.
