    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Big Meadows Reservoir. Big Meadows Reservoir truly is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors paradise. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Lake Fork National Recreation Trail, and whitewater paddling is great on Rio Grande. Big Meadows Reservoir is right by the Highline Trail, and Park Creek Campground is a brilliant local campground.
If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the San Juan and
 
   Jemez Mountains. West Fork Campground is a glorious campground nearby, and if you've had enough of Big Meadows Reservoir, Shaw Lake is close by. This lake is so wonderful. You don’t have to go far from Big Meadows Reservoir to catch a sight of the water at Big Meadows Dam, and at Big Meadows Reservoir you can catch a sight of Heart Mountain. In case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Wolf Creek, and of course Black Creek  
               flows through this region.
Yep, outdoors exciting stuff truly is bountiful here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If you need a site to stay The Spruce Lodge is a tremendous choice, and hiking along the Treasure Mountain Trail is nice fun. Big Meadows Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Allington Inn and Suites, and you're probably keen on lakes, Pass Creek Lake is one of those close by.
Big Meadows Reservoir gets very little rain; July is the wettest month with most rain while June is generally the driest month. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Big Meadows Reservoir, and the night is slightly colder of course, frequently in the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Big Meadows Reservoir temperatures drop to the-10's.

Using the river or the land without authorization is tresspassing and is illegal. I am by no means giving you permission to use it. I am simply stating the facts. I was raised near this lake and when a child we had to pack horses into this lake. It is not near any campgrounds, and it's over 25 miles to town, not 18. It gets way colder than 0 in the winter but the views are almost correct.  It IS beautiful!...
