Man, is there loads of enjoyable stuff to do close to Big Lake. If you need a spot to stay The Pines Lodge is a good choice, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Horseshoe Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Places like Negro Basin are tremendous to check out, and Fulford Cave Campground is a tremendous campground nearby. During the long summer days here at Big       Lake, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Big Lake. If only every site had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great earth it would be. If you're going to Big Lake from Edwards, you won't be the only one; why not head up to Vail and strap some skis to your feet. If the weather is pleasant here at Big Lake, you can go for                  a hike along the Lake Charles Trail, and after a long day outdoors Hyatt Mountain Lodge is a good location to spend a night or two. Not much precipitation falls here at Big Lake; most of the rain falls through July while February is mostly the driest month. So many exciting things in the Sawatch Range, just astonishing. The New York Mountain Trail is a delightful hiking trail next to Big Lake; there's whitewater on Eagle River for all you adrenaline junkies. From Big Lake you obtain a great panorama of Eagle Peak, and not far from Big Lake you'll find Gold Dust Lakes which is a picturesque lake. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things in the Sawatch Range. Get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Fryingpan River; you can stay the night at Yeoman Park Campground. This lake is so wonderful.
