Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more amusing things to do here in the San Juan Mountains. Going for a hike along the Lake Fork Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Big Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Mix Lake Campground is a nice local campground. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The San Juan Mountains is excellent! In the       event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Conejos River, and if you need a place to stay The Spruce Lodge is a perfect choice. This lake is so wonderful. An exciting thing to explore right next door to Big Lake is Platoro Dam, and camping at Stunner Campground is always a good experience. That right there is loads already, but it keeps on going; Big Lake has it all. If the weather is wonderful here at Big                  Lake, you can go for a hike along the Conejos Trail; Forest King Mountain can be observed from Big Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Red Bear Inn; a lake close by is Platoro Reservoir. While you're here at Big Lake you can take a hike along the Bear Lake Trail, and Big Lake is next to Robinson Gulch which is unquestionably worth going to. Summer brings highs in the 60's to Big Lake while nighttime lows are typically in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Big Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Lots of precipitation falls at Big Lake; the wettest month of the year is regularly March, that's the one that snows the most, and June on the other hand is the driest.
