If time allows, Mesa Verde National Park is a national park worth visiting, and do check out Little Mud Reservoir, it's a delightful lake. There is a fine hiking trail close to Big Hill Reservoir called the Morrison Trail, and you'll hit upon a stunning lake called Indian Draw Reservoir. Big Hill Reservoir gets very little precipitation; March is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is June. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Big Hill Reservoir. Hesperus Ski Center is a very popular ski area nearby. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Big Hill Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at The Forks Campground. | |

This lake is so wonderful. On a magnificent day at Big Hill Reservoir you can take a hike along the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway, and after a long day outdoors Dunton Hot Springs is a fine site to spend a night or two. Spring Creek
is one of the streams nearby that might be worth visiting; going for a hike on the Chicken Creek Trail is always a good adventure. If you're here, you might as well go to Morgan Gulch, and Big Hill Reservoir is a tremendous site to
visit for more than one day, Transfer Campground is a tremendous site to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Drift down the rapids of Dolores River in a kayak, and Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC is a perfect site to get some rest.

 | Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |

It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company.
