Not much precipitation falls here at Big Alkali Lake; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. This is a fine region for people who like lakes. Red Mountain Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and a magnificent close by hotel is Crested Butte Intl. Lodge & Hostel. This place, Big Alkali Lake, it simply has so much outdoors fun stuff.       Take a hike on the Onemile Cattle Trail, and Big Alkali Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Almont Campground is a good local campground. If you need a site to stay Purple Mountain Lodge B&B-Spa is a nice choice, and if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on East River. During the days of summer highs here at Big Alkali Lake reach the 70's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 40's. During the winter                  highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Big Alkali Lake. Red Mountain is lovely and can be seen from Big Alkali Lake, and Aspen Highlands is a very popular ski area in close proximity. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Alkali Lake; Granite Basin Trail is a wonderful local trail, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Lowline Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are pleasant; Lake Grant is a lake that's next to Big Alkali Lake, and Gunnison River is a delightful whitewater spot close by.
