Through the summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Bates Lake while nighttime lows are frequently in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows all through the winter for Bates Lake tend to be in the 10's. Whitewater paddling is not for       everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Clear Creek, and while you're here, you could take a look at Ralston Creek. Going for a hike on the Bear Peak Trail is always a glorious adventure. So many fun things to do here at Bates Lake, too great to be true. If you get bored of Bates Lake, you could also explore nearby Lake Rhoda; the summit of Inspiration Point can be spotted from Bates Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at The Prospect                  RV Park, and playing golf is lots of fun at Willis Case Golf Course. There is a glorious hiking trail in the neighborhood of Bates Lake called the Beaver Brook Trail; if you come at the right time of year, South Platte River offers some great whitewater. Near Bates Lake you locate the Mesa Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail, and lots of people from Boulder come here. This lake is so wonderful. Mayham Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by, and a splendid nearby hotel is Comfort Inn Northwest.
