Whitewater paddling is perfect on Cache La Poudre River, and Barrett Reservoir is right by the Overland Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the long summer days at Barrett Reservoir temperatures are mostly in the 80's; the overnight is rather cooler of course, typically in the 50's. All through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at Barrett       Reservoir dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. During your spree to Barrett Reservoir you'll meet some people from Fort Collins-Loveland for sure; hiking is a popular thing to do around Barrett Reservoir; Wintersteen Trail is a good local trail. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Barrett Reservoir. Stay the night at Fort Collins North/wellington, and get drenched paddling on Cache La Poudre River - North Fork. A lake close by is                  Box Elder Reservoir Number 2, and Budget Host Inn Fort Collins is a wonderful spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Barrett Reservoir is a nice place to camp, Ft Collins N/Wellington KOA is a nice place, and dry warm beds await you at Best Western Kiva Inn. Barrett Dam is not far at all from Barrett Reservoir; the Greyrock Trail offers hiking at its best.
