     Barren Dam has glorious water scenery and it's in close proximity to Barren Lake, and Eggleston Campground is a splendid local campground. At Barren Lake you don’t see much rain; October is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is January. Go for a hike on the Lily Lake Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Howard Johnson Express - Cedaredge. If you need a site to stay Comfort Inn Delta is a tremendous choice.
And if that's not enough, there's
 
   heaps more to do near Barren Lake. Lakes? Sure, Eggleston Lake is close by, and going for a hike on the Crag Crest Trail is always a glorious adventure. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Powderhorn if you're here, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Baron Lake. The warmest time of the year at Barren Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 90's while overnight lows are regularly in the 60's.  
               The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; overnight lows during the winter for Barren Lake tend to be in the 10's.
This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the High Foot Trail; why not camp at Kiser Creek Campground if you're here at Barren Lake.

Hiked into Crater Lake on 6/23/07. Caught three 12' cutthroat trout, and had a much larger trout strike my lure a couple of times (not hard enough for me to set the hook). Beautiful place, but the mosquitos ate me alive....
