While you're here at Barnard Reservoir you can take a hike along the Chicken Creek Trail, and Priest Gulch Campground and RV is a great local campground. Barnard Reservoir is pretty dried out typically; most of the snow falls through March, and the driest month is June. This lake is so wonderful. A lake nearby is Driveway Reservoir; Transfer Campground is a magnificent campground nearby. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Barnard Reservoir.

| | Barnard Reservoir is not the only place nearby, Black Reservoir is a nearby lake, and Dunton Hot Springs is a fine site to get some rest. For the duration of the summer, highs frequently are in the 70's at Barnard Reservoir while overnight lows are usually in the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; nighttime lows throughout the wintertime for Barnard Reservoir tend to be in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody close by loves skiing | |

been to Mesa Verde National Park, you must schedule some time for it if you're here, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Dolores River. Have a great hiking adventure along the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Spruce Spring.

 | 13 miles away Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |
