This lake is so wonderful. Gotta ski! Telluride is a nice place to do that; good hiking is available along the Circle Trail. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows through the winter for Barlow Lake tend to be in the 0's. There are some great whitewater spots on San Miguel River,

and of course, this is a wonderful neighborhood for people who like lakes, Owen Lake is a lake around here.
Stay the night at Burro Bridge Campground; it's a perfect idea to visit Barlow Creek. If you need a site to stay Cascade Village is a tremendous choice, and Cayton Campground is a magnificent campground nearby. What would winter be without some skiing at Silverton.
Now, you may feel that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Barlow Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Hermosa Creek; going for a hike on the East Fork Trail is always a glorious adventure.
