     Summertime highs at Balsam Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Balsam Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. This lake is located in the wonderful San Juan and Jemez Mountains. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Balsam Lake has to offer, you can camp at Silver Summit RV Park And Jeep Rentals; a delightful  
   lake like Leviathan Lake is a fine site to go to.
And that's not everything you can do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. There's so much to do here at Balsam Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Red Mountain Motel and RV Park is a great location for that, and the Deer Park Trail is a good hiking trail close by. Vestal Lake is a tremendous lake near Balsam Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Animas River in the neighborhood
 
               of Balsam Lake, and after a long day outdoors Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel is a great place to spend a night or two.
Around Balsam Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Balsam Lake is in a great location in the shadow of the Grenadier Range; close by you come across the Brooklyn Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. What a place this is for outdoors folks. If you need a place to stay Purgatory Lodge by Durango Mountain Resorts is a brilliant choice; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Kendall Mountain.
So much entertaining stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, just incredible. Silverton is a very popular ski area close by; a fine view of beautiful Arrow Peak is available. Vallecito Creek is a fine whitewater spot next to Balsam Lake, and on a splendid day you can take a hike along the Whitehead Trail.
