You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Irwin Lodge since you're here; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try East Fork Avalanche Creek. Avalanche Lake is commonly a reasonably dried up place; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest of the months is February. And that's not all you can do here at Avalanche Lake. Camping at Avalanche Lake is great       fun, Meri-daes RV Park and General Store is a great local campground; on a gorgeous day you get a great sight of Capitol Peak from Avalanche Lake. Avalanche Campground is a nice campground here, and dry warm beds await you at Laurelwood Condominiums. This lake is so wonderful. The Munsey Ruby Stock Driveway offers hiking at its best, and Avalanche Lake is right by the Blue Creek Trail. If you come at the right time of year, Crystal River - North Fork offers                  some delightful whitewater, and if you need a place to stay Wildwood Lodge is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Crystal River, and skiing at Aspen Highlands is one of those things you just must do. Summer at Avalanche Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. Through the winter the highs are generally in the 30's with temperatures at Avalanche Lake dipping down into the-10's all through winter nights.
