This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Laurelwood Condominiums is a good choice, and Avalanche Campground is a pleasant local campground. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Aspen Highlands is close to Avalanche Lake. East Fork Avalanche Creek is close to Avalanche Lake and is always a pleasure to pop       by; since you're here you can take a hike along the Blue Creek Trail. For the duration of the warm months, highs mostly are in the 70's at Avalanche Lake while overnight lows are commonly in the 40's. All through the winter highs are commonly in the 30's with temperatures at Avalanche Lake dipping down into the-10's all through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Do go to Capitol Lake close to Avalanche Lake, it's a pretty lake, and whitewater paddling                  is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Crystal River. Hiking along the Trail Riders Trail is good fun, and you can see Capitol Peak from Avalanche Lake. At Avalanche Lake you don’t see much rain; the month with most of the rain is August; February on the other hand is the driest. Going for a hike along the Munsey Ruby Stock Driveway will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and dry warm beds await you at Timberline Condominiums. If you like the outdoors, you'll go for Avalanche Lake.
