Beautiful Ankele Lake has much to offer visitors. If you come at the right time of year, Arkansas River offers some delightful whitewater. At Ankele Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. You can make out Big Baldy Mountain from Ankele Lake, and nearby you stumble on the Simmons Peak Trail which is a great hiking trail.

For the period of the wintertime the highs are usually in the 30's with temperatures at Ankele Lake dipping down into the 0's all through winter nights. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Ankele Lake. Arrow Resort is a nice place to do that; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Ankele Spring.
This lake is so wonderful. The Ute Trail is a magnificent hiking trail near Ankele Lake. There's so much to do here at Ankele
Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Four Seasons RV Park is a great place for that. After a long day outdoors Salida-Days Inn is a good place to spend a night or two, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Arkansas River.
