Do stop by Ankele Lake while you're in this part of Colorado. It is very waterless here at Ankele Lake ordinarily; August is the wettest month with most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest. Dry warm beds await you at Salida-Days Inn, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Arkansas River. The Hunts Lake Trail is a great hiking trail next to Ankele Lake, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Ankele Spring.

| | trail next to Ankele Lake called the Simmons Peak Trail. High temperatures at Ankele Lake through the months of summer are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. to do here at Ankele Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Broken Arrow Resort is a tremendous location for that.
If you came to camp Arkansas Headwaters is a great place to do that; get wet paddling on Arkansas River.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Gateway Inn and Suites is a nice choice, and the summit of Big Baldy Mountain can be made out from Ankele Lake.
