Hiking along the Stoner Stock Trail is tremendous fun, and you're probably hooked on lakes, Wesley Reservoir is one of those close by. Akin Reservoir is commonly a rather dehydrated location; most of the rain falls all through March, and the driest of the months is June. This lake is so wonderful. Coalbank Spring is an inspiring place to take a look at while here, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway. Dunton Hot Springs

Dry warm beds await you at Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try West Dolores River. Reservoir is just a very short distance away. You just ought to love Akin Reservoir. Since you're here at Akin Reservoir why not go to Cox Canyon, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Eagle Peak Trail. There's whitewater
on Dolores River for all you adrenaline rush seekers; Mesa Verde National Park is a brilliant local destination. Summertime highs at Akin Reservoir ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Akin Reservoir.

 | Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |

It contains 163 surface acres when full and is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company.  | 18 miles away We stayed in this campground mid-July 2006. Very efficient, friendly park. Adequate power, water, and sewage hookups. Rates were reasonable; and the manager did indicate that longer stays were discounted. Nice fenced dog run for our puppies to enjoy. The microbrewery in town has a wide selection of locally made beverages. I would gladly stop at La Mesa RV Park again.... |
