Karen: This is such a beautiful lake and a great hike. We hit it at the peak wildflower time for the yellow mule ears as far as you could see leaving from the woodchuck trailhead. Had the whole lake to ourselves all afternoon. Perfect for a swim too.

This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Pine Marten Campground, and a glorious location for whitewater paddling is Stanislaus River - Middle Fork. All through the months of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Wheeler Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are generally in the 30's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Wheeler Lake temperatures plunge to the 10's. You just can't

at close by Kirkwood. Wheeler Lake is located in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Having a tremendous time in the Northern Sierra Nevada is uncomplicated. Camping at Backpackers Campground is always a glorious experience, and after
a long day outdoors The Meadow is a great site to spend a night or two. You can run the rapids of Mokelumne River - North Fork close to Wheeler Lake, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Emigrant Trail. This spot
is excellent, just check out all the entertaining stuff to do near Wheeler Lake. You'll come across a pretty lake called Duck Lake near Wheeler Lake; The Mountain Club is a tremendous location to get some rest.
