Have a great hiking adventure along the Red Mountain Trail, and West Lake is not the only place close by, Rainbow Lake is a close by lake. College Campground is a great campground nearby, and Sierra Summit is a fine local ski area. Summertime highs at West Lake frequently tend to be in the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's. All through the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at West Lake dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. Kokanee Campground is a great location to camp, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Deep Creek Trail.
There's whitewater on Dinkey Creek for all you adrenaline people, and on a great day you can take a hike along
the Bobs Flat Trail. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. Be careful coming to the Central Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to return home again. After a long day outdoors Snowcreek Resort is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and Chinese Peak is beautiful and can be seen from here.
