Mammoth Mountain is a very popular ski area close by, and close by you hit upon the Mammoth Rock Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. Dutch Lake is a nearby lake that you could have a look at, and San Joaquin River - South Fork is a delightful whitewater spot nearby. And that's not everything you can do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. The Red Mountain Trail is a nice hiking trail next to       Ward Lake, and do visit Florence Lake, it's a charming lake. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant spree to Hell Hole Meadow is a nice way to spend an afternoon, and at Ward Lake you can spot Jackass Dike. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Ward Lake. Hit the slopes at Sierra Summit in close proximity, and Florence Lake Campground is a good campground nearby. There is a pleasant hiking trail close to Ward Lake called the Sherwin Lakes Trail;                  in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Mono Creek. At Ward Lake you don’t see much precipitation; January is when you get the most rain here, and June is the month with the least moisture. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Ward Lake while overnight lows are commonly in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Ward Lake. A great nearby hotel is Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada; if you came for an overnight stay Ward Lake Campground is a great site to camp. Be careful coming to Ward Lake, you might not ever wanna go back home again. This lake is so wonderful. Bear Creek is close to Ward Lake and is always a delight to take a look at; if you need a spot to stay Snowcreek Resort is a glorious choice.
